I embraced my Geekness about a year ago. It was not so hard of a leap since I was in both band and orchestra in high school which are prerequisites for Geekness. But, as far as Nerd, I never thought I’d cross that line, I truly believed I was different. That is until this past week, anyway.
Last week a Hollywood movie crew began setting up at an abandoned motel almost directly across the street from me in production of Lee Child’s most infamous character form his best selling novel, “One Shot” starring Tom Cruise.
Let me say that I am not into fandom (I have not had access to cable TV in over eight years) nor am I a stalker (I’m very pressed for time, you see) but the fact that a movie crew was just down the street from me in my quiet, little neighborhood stripped a good 35 years off my maturity level and I found myself standing next to people gawking from across the street, watching the goings on as they transformed a rundown motel into the backdrop for a major motion picture with x-fighter pilot, x-race car driver, x-pool shark, x-navy lawyer, x-vampire, Tom Cruise! I snuck around with my camera, stumbling over downed limbs, negotiating bushes in the dark and even stepped into an icy puddle.
I was as happy as a pig in poop!
With left foot soaking wet, right hand on my video camera watching the lights and glamour of a Hollywood flick in the cold, late October air, I realized I crossed the line from geekdom into nerddom. It is very strange how ones life can change in a blink-of-an-eye.
Video clips are forthcoming!
Hey, where´s that footage?? I´m eagerly waiting for the clips to come up to light. When I have my screenplays on I will let youknow and you may follow the stars all around, or just chase them as you like. Have a great year of 2012!
