Garden District

Here's a peek at my cold, rainy afternoon in the Garden District in New Orleans. Note the ferns growing from the huge branches of trees. How they do that?

Courtyards and passageways

The physical look of the French Quarter has always captured my attention. The narrow, dark alleys that lead courtyards which seem like an oasis took much of my camera's time during my trip.

Something Old

I have a thing about old, worn out stuff. This is a part of a French Door outside Reverend Zombies Voodoo Shop showing several layers of peeled paint, rust and wear in wonderful, vivid colors.

Rainy Days & Cemeteries

I mentioned I spent an afternoon at St Patricks’ Cemetery #2 in New Orleans this past week and here are some sights It stopped raining long enough for me to get in a few good shots. Some of the tombs are in disrepair: they’ve been abused by weather and I’m afraid vandals over time. Some are as old as the mid-1800s If you go poking around, you may find something quite startling. Remember to use your flash in dark spaces. My wife didn’t talk to me for a few hours after she saw this last photo. Oh well.

New Orleans 2014

Just got back from New Orleans this past week. The weather was fickle to say the least but the food and people were, as always steady and wonderful and the best part of the trip. I won’t get into much detail now but I have a few pics to share such as: A peek at my rainy afternoon at a cemetery
Me trying to be artsy fartsy with my camera
And some pre-Mardi-Gras décor
So check back in a few days and I will have more pics and observations on my trip!
